Preamble

Magrabi Hospitals & Centers and its scientific program i-Learn published though this website is not for profit program and it is committed to promoting the highest standards of professional conduct and clinical care through events we conduct. In that regard, all events endeavor to comply with best practice in the peer review of the relevance, quality, and factual validity of its scientific and clinical programmers, without bias toward or undue influence, and in compliance with applicable laws, codes, and guidelines that pertain to the programs relations with industry and to industry’s participation. To support its commitment and role, the program committees endorses the following Code of Ethics for the program, scientific materials and speakers and those who participate in any activities sponsored under i-learn.


Best interests of the patient

Committees of i-Learn reinforce and foster best interest of the patients through reviewing any scientific material presented though the program should therefore protect, support and respect the health, wellbeing, dignity, and autonomy of the patient.


Advice about treatment

Committees of i-Learn will ensure that scientific program contents that when advising a patient about potential treatment or care, an ophthalmic surgeon should never over-treat or harm the patient. In that regard, a surgeon should strive to minimize intervention and to weigh the risks of treatment against the potential benefit of that treatment. Such advice should be independent of any potential financial benefit to the surgeon.


Performing treatment

Committees of i-Learn will ensure that scientific program contents will reinforce that No ophthalmologist should provide treatment outside of her or his competency. No ophthalmic surgeon should allow a trainee ophthalmic surgeon under her or his supervision to provide treatment unless satisfied that the trainee is competent to do so, whether with or without immediate supervision.


Patient confidentiality

Committees of i-Learn will ensure that scientific program contents should always respect the privacy of patients and comply with all applicable data protection laws and guidelines. A speaker should keep all patient information confidential and not disclose patient information to anyone not involved in the medical care of the patient without the consent of the patient.


Advertising

Committees of i-Learn will ensure that any advertising, marketing, advice, or other communication to the attendees on a scientific base and never be misleading or inaccurate.


Relationship with industry

Committees of i-Learn will never allow any offer, inducement, or promise from any industry or business to affect independence of speaker talk, clinical practice, choice of treatment, or referral of patients.


Speaker must declare any financial interest with the industry if exist before giving the talk Bank declaration.
